It belongs to HMD Global Oy, which is owned by the investment fund Smart Connect LP. HMD outsources production to contract manufacturers, mainly in China, and some models are made in Europe.

Production is outsourced to original design manufacturers. HMD says it had six facilities in China in 2025 and that its other factories serve local markets. HMD lists the HMD Ivalo XE as engineered and made in Europe.
