The brewery was founded by Angelo Poretti and made its first beer in Valganna in 1877; Carlsberg has owned it since 2002 and runs it through Carlsberg Italia S.p.A. The brand's ultimate owner is the Carlsberg Foundation, the Danish foundation that holds a majority of the voting rights in Carlsberg A/S.
